Read Write Thrive Tutoring

It's nice to meet you

Providing reading and writing tutoring to young learners.

Hello and welcome

Hi, My name is Diane Zafred.  I am a reading and writing tutor based in west end Toronto, and I believe every child can learn to read and write.  If you're considering a tutor to help your child develop and strengthen their reading and/or writing skills, or to provide them with a challenge, please email me to discuss what I can offer and whether I'd be a good fit for your child.  Thanks for your interest.

Why consider a reading tutor?
There are several reasons as to why you might consider a reading and/or writing tutor for your child, including:
1.  Your child struggles with reading and writing.
2. Your child isn’t adequately challenged by class work.
3. You wish to supplement your child’s education with individual support.
4. Your child lacks confidence which may interfere with progress.

If you feel your child would benefit from a reading tutor or that has been suggested, you might feel something has gone wrong with your child and/or feel overwhelmed.
You might wonder if it’s too late and whether your child will catch up with peers.
Maybe tutoring is too much?
How do you know the tutor is skilled?

Covid-19 Protocol

Guidelines for in-person tutorials during Covid-19
1.During tutoring sessions, the tutor and/or  the child/children and/or  parent(s)/guardian(s) will wear a mask or other face covering at all times, which shields the chin, mouth and nose.
2. Parents/guardians are asked to provide a table or work station as well as a writing instrument (i.e., pencil, marker, eraser) for the child's/children's use.
 3. Ideally, tutorials will take place outdoors (i.e., back yard, porch, deck), weather permitting. If this is not possible, an indoor space at the child's location will take place.
 4.  If the tutor, child or any member of the child's household feels unwell or suspects they may be sick, tutoring sessions will be rescheduled to at least 14 days later or until all people concerned are healthy. If the parent, tutor, child or any member of the child's household has Covid-19 or suspects they have been exposed to the virus, tutoring sessions will be postponed.
At least 24 hours' notice of rescheduling or cancellation is required when possible, though I will be reasonable with the cancellation policy in the case of newly arising health conditions, for the sake of health and safety.
